A drain cleaner, also known as a sewage drain cleaner, is an industrial product that unclogs clogged waste pipes or sewer lines. The word may also apply to a specialized mechanical device for unblocking sewer lines, such as a sewer snake, drain unclogger, toilet plunger, or like device. Drain cleaners are often used in industries, including manufacturing, where solid wastes accumulate in large pipes and are very difficult to dispose of without the use of modern cleaning equipment. Another common use for drain cleaners is in residential households, in both the kitchen and bathroom, to clean out sinks and toilets to make them easier to use and to prevent the build-up of potentially harmful bacteria.
